A woman was at a train station and she looked on the boxcar and on top of it was a crate. In the crate there was a dog. What it was that got her attention… was not that the dog looked hungry or undernourished, it wasn’t that he was all matted and dirty. The dog had plenty of water. It was just that that dog looked so sad. When the train conductor walked by the lady asked him, why is that dog so sad? He said: lady, you would be sad to if you were in his condition. You see, he has chewed the name tag off of his crate and he doesn’t know where he’s going. Wow! Doesn’t that sound like so many people today? They have no identification they don’t know who they are and they don’t even know where they’re going. Friends, you have been identified with Christ. You are a new person a new creation. God knows your name, in fact he has written it on the palm of his hand and he will never forget it. Whatever you ask for in his name.. He will give it to you! You’re a conqueror. No! You’re more than a conqueror through Him who loved you.

You are responsible for your own “Thinking.” A blind boy sat on the curb with a hat by his feet. He held a sign which said: “I am blind” Please Help. A man walking by looked and saw there was only a few coins in the hat. He took some coins from his pocket and dropped them in the hat. He than took the sign, turned it around and wrote some words. He put the sign in the little boys hands so everyone who walked by would see the new words. The hat begin to filll up. More people & more people were giving money to the blind boy. The man came back to see how things were going. The boy recognized his foot steps and asked are you the one who changed my sign? What did you write? The man said “I wrote the truth”. I just said it a different way. The sign read: “Its a beautiful day and I cannot see it.” Both signs were saying the same thing. The first sign simply said the boy was blind. The second sign told the people they were lucky they were not blind. Should we be surprised the second sign was more effective?

Oh it’s my prayer today that you allow this word to Ignite in your heart and receive it as a word of encouragement. 1st Timothy 1:19. Listen to these words: holding on to faith and a good conscience. Some have rejected these and so have shipwrecked there faith. Look at that word shipwrecked. What’s the first thing you think of. I think of the greatest shipwreck in all of history. Which at one time there never has been such a human tragedy. Think about the size of this ship for a moment. From stern to stern, 4 city blocks-a thousand feet long. It stood 11 stories high, 159 coal burning furnaces, 4 smokestacks that stood 60 feet above her casings, that were 22 feet in diameter. IMAGINE that. The newspaper headlines read: God himself couldn’t sink that ship. And despite all this-Sunday night April 14th, 1912 The worlds most luxurious Ship struck an iceberg in the North Atlantic, ripping a 300 ft. gash-in her side & plunged 13,000 ft. that’s over 2 1/2miles and sent 1,500 people to a watery grave in less than three hours. There is so many unique parallels but let me share with you which I believe is the No. 1 reason it shipwrecked and how we as Christians shipwreck. The captain, listen carefully refused to change course. He had been warned numerous times, change course, change course, but refused to believe that they were shipwrecking. The captain told everyone were fine-newspaper said there towing it back-relatives on the dock waiting, and the ship was 2 1/2 miles on the ocean floor. Listen, most people that are backsliding “sinking” are the last ones to admit it. God always sends warnings when icebergs are in are course. Icebergs that strike are marriage, our life, our health. There course has been set incorrect. Warnings usually come through a friend, church service, or that inner voice. Listen “The Denial of reality, is the womb of Tragedy”. The teenager that says all my friends are doing it is headed for an iceberg. Sin is harder than obedience. It’s easier to change course than to get out of an iceberg. Today don’t let anything “shipwreck” your Faith. Confess your sins and get back on course. I love you.

I corresponded with a group of successful men and women and I asked: In one word, Why do Dreams die? They were all good responses. Some said: Doubt, Offense, Lack of Vision, Faith, and there were others, but one stood out. FEAR. Afraid of falling short of your expectations? When in fact the fastest way to success might be to fail first. Failing is a part of the process, not something to regret. Many years ago an actor Johnny Weissmuller, an Olympic swimmer who also played Tarzan in the movies. When asked: What is your secret to being a successful swimmer and actor? Weissmuller smiled. “Don’t let go of the vine”. Dreams don’t die, we simply quit, said one women. How true that is. Leonardo da Vinci worked on The Last Supper for ten years, sometimes becoming so absorbed in his work that he’d forget to eat. Albert Einstein said: “I’m not so smart. It’s just that I stay with a problem longer”. So together, let’s take a calculated chance. The fastest way to see our dreams and goals come true may be to fail a few times and “Never Give Up”! Keep dreaming.
